|Information on successful completing of 6th International Symposium for Breeding Research on Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (BREEDMAP 6) June 19 to 23, 2016 at the Institute for Breeding Research on Horticultural Crops of Julius Kuehn Institute (JKI), Quedlinburg, Germany|
With excursions to companies growing medicinal and aromatic plants at Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia the 6th International Symposium for Breeding Research on Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (BREEDMAP 6) ended after four days at Quedlinburg, Germany. The Institute for Breeding Research on Horticultural Crops of Julius Kuehn Institute (JKI) was awarded to organize this important international conference following BREEDMAP 5, 2012 at University of Veterinary Medicine, Vienna, Austria.
At BREEDMAP 6, Quedlinburg more than 100 scientists from 21 countries gathered for scientific interchanges of ideas and consolidation as well as new foundation of projects for international collaboration.
This international most important conference for breeding research and breeding of medicinal and aromatic plants were given again to Quedlinburg, Germany after events at Chania (Greece), Campinas (Brazil), Ljubljana (Slovenia) and Vienna (Austria) twenty years after founding in 1996 at Quedlinburg (former Federal Centre for Breeding Research on Cultivated Plants, BAZ). At that time as well as present the intension is to present a platform for international exchange of ideas for plants producing secondary metabolites are in the centre. The participation of experts for botany, phytochemistry, pharmacy, medicine, agriculture and horticulture as well as process technology and biotechnology confirm the interdisciplinary approach targeted by the organizers for this conference.
